Gretchen Lyn Loard

1967-2017

Loard, GretchenGretchen Lyn Loard was born in Oklahoma City, Okla. on April 15, 1967, the second daughter of Ray and Ellen Loard. She grew up in Edmond, Okla. graduating from Edmond Memorial High School in 1985. She attended the University of Oklahoma where she was a member of Delta Delta Delta sorority. She spent one summer studying in Paris where she honed her French skills and spoke like a native. After graduating from OU, Gretchen took a year off before entering the OU School of Law. She again spent a summer abroad, studying at Oxford and then heading once again to France for two more weeks. Her love affair with all things French continued for the rest of her life. She graduated from OU School of Law in 1993.

Gretchen lived in Dallas, Texas most of her adult life. She passed from this earth into the arms of her loving Savior at her home in Dallas on October 10, 2017. She leaves behind her grieving parents Ray and Ellen Loard of Edmond, her beloved sister Kelly and husband Ron Riney of Edmond, Kelly’s three children whom she loved dearly: niece Lauren and husband Cameron Castelli of Edmond, and nephews Cameron Riney of Baton Rouge, La, and Nathanael Riney of Edmond. She is also survived by her uncle Kent Williams of Oklahoma City, and aunt and uncle Becky and Dande Evans of Edmond, cousins Drew Williams of South Carolina, Hunter Williams of New York, Jack McClain of Ardmore, Okla., Vicky Woodburn and Deborah Ousley of Lawton, Okla., Kirk Loard of Georgia, and Brandon Loard of New Mexico. She also leaves behind a host of dear, dear friends whom she loved like family.

We will miss her bright smile and her vibrant personality. She was taken from us far too soon.

Funeral services will be held at 2:00 p.m., Friday, October 20, 2017 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Memorial donations can be made in her name to Hurricane Harvey Relief at Henderson Hills Baptist Church, Edmond, OK, or to a charity of your choice.
