Gordon Duane Brumit
Gordon Duane Brumit, age 91, died peacefully in his Edmond, OK home on Friday, August 21, 2020.
Gordon was born near Phillipsburg, Kansas on April 5, 1929 and moved with his family to La Junta, Colorado when he was a young child.
He is survived by three children from his marriage to Marsha Klisares (d 2001), John Brumit, Sara Brumit, and Cheryl Smith.
He is also survived by three children from his previous marriage to Mary Linn McCartney (m 1950, Raton, NM). David W. Brumit, Michael D. Brumit and Gaye Linn Murphy.
Gordon had 7 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren.
During Gordon’s younger years in La Junta, CO. he was an avid horseman and rodeo participant. He spent many years as a professional cowboy, working on several ranches in Southern Colorado and the Texas Panhandle. After starting his family, Gordon went to work for the Phillips Petroleum Company out of Bartlesville, OK. He first worked in the Oil and Gas Fields of Texas, Kansas, and Oklahoma, eventually being posted in various positions at the Phillip’s headquarters in Bartlesville.
Later on he found himself in a variety of jobs ranging from time at Mill Creek Carpet & Tile to groundskeeping the tennis courts at Quail Creek Golf & Country Club in Oklahoma City.
Gordon holds an Honorable Discharge from the Colorado National Guard.
