Gladys D. Heflin
February 19, 1929 – May 7, 2015
Gladys Heflin passed away peacefully, on May 7, 2015, in Oklahoma City. She was grateful for all the blessings and special gifts God gave her. Gladys constantly thanked God for all He had done for her, her family, and her friends.
Gladys was born on February 19, 1929, in Yukon, OK, to James Houston and Ruby (Brooking) Blevins. She graduated from Central High School before attending OU. On August 4, 1950, she married William C. Heflin. They had two daughters, Debera and Susan. She worked as a dental assistant for 22 years.
William and Gladys enjoyed traveling with friends and family. She loved charity fund raising, being a brownie and Girl Scout leader, and teaching children’s Sunday School and Vacation Bible School. An annual highlight for her four grandchildren was getting to spend time during the summer with their “Nonnie” and “Baw,” in Oklahoma City, where the days were filled with activities, laughter, and memories never to be forgotten.
Gladys was preceded in death by her mother and father; her husband of 54 years, William; and her brother James Houston Blevins. She is survived by her daughter Debbie Martin and husband Jim of Plano, TX; daughter Susie Delano and husband Bob of Edmond, OK; grandsons John Delano and wife Irene of Edmond, OK; Jim Fields, III and wife Tanya of Frisco, TX; granddaughters Julie Koscheski and husband Tim of Dallas, TX; Nikki Rapp and husband David of Aledo, TX; nine great-grandchildren, Kaitlin, Brooklyn and Drew Fields, Hagan Koscheski, Avery, Alex and Anna Delano, and Dalton and Emory Rapp; niece Jere Marcotte and husband Henry, who were there for Gladys encouraging her through her losses and illness; and numerous precious nieces, nephews, and cousins.
A special thanks to Dr. Brian Geister and his staff for their compassion and many years of care.
In lieu of flowers, the family wishes that donations be made to Arise Ministries, P.O. Box 2973, Edmond, OK.
A family graveside service will be held at a later date.
