Jerry passed away unexpectedly on February 18, 2020. He was born in Meadville, Pennsylvania to Viola & Ralph Harr. He graduated from Butler High School in Pennsylvania and immediately enlisted In the Air Force where he worked with radio communications. Upon completion of his service obligation, he went to work for the FAA as an electronics technician; working in Harrisburg and Pittsburgh, PA. In 1979, he moved the family to Oklahoma City, and worked as an instructor at the FAA academy. From 1990 to 1992 he worked in Ohio as the airport manager for the Youngstown-Warren regional Airport. Jerry returned to Oklahoma City in 1992 and continued to work for the FAA until his retirement in 1994. Soon after his retirement from FAA, he went to work for an FAA contractor, leaving that job in 2017. Jerry’s love for aviation began as a boy and followed him his entire life. He owned a Piper Cherokee and flew it locally as well as some long distance flights. He loved traveling with his wife Carol. They traveled the U. S. as well as Europe, Australia & New Zealand. For over 20 years, he spent a fun week at the Carolina beaches with his extended family. He traveled on an annual golf trip to Las Vegas with friends from work. He enjoyed his weekly coffee “meetings” with the guys. Most of all he loved being home with his wife Carol & beloved cat “Lulu.” Taking care of the yard and the pond he built. He loved animals, especially his grand dogs & cats. Preceded in death by his parents Ralph and Viola Harr. Brother William Harr & Sister In Law Nancy Harr. Survived by his wife Carol. Son James Harr (Debbie)Daughter Robin Harr Gurklis (John) – Grandchildren Alyssa, John Michael & Eric Gurklis. Stepsons Clark Ritchey (Debbie) & Chad Ritchey. Step granddaughters Charlie & Jaycie Ritchey. Niece Debra Harr Tharpe-Great Nephews Scurry, Mackenzie & Colby Tharpe. Nephew Billy Harr (Susan) – Great niece Catherine Sanders – Great Nephew Tyler Harr. Nephew John Harr – Great Nephews Stuart & Ethan Harr- Niece Susan Harr Caron (Waddy) – Great nieces – Emily, Rachel & Caroline Caron who affectionately called Jerry “Papa.” Step Nephews John & Michael Hildreth & Brian O’Neill. Brother In Law – Richard Newberg, Step Nephews Richard Newberg, Jr. Mark Newberg,  Step Nieces Lydia Newberg & Tina Merten. A memorial service will be February 29th at 11 am at Matthews Funeral Home 601 S. Kelly, Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers donations to Edmond Mobile Meals in Jerry’s Honor would be appreciated
