Georgene Irene (Downing) Piatt
1920-2019
She began life in Lockridge, OK, on September 1, 1920. Georgene went to school at Cashion Public School before transferring to Guthrie her senior year of high school. She worked outside the home at the Five & Dime where she made her life savings of $24 before marrying Paul on July 4, 1939. She would always say that the $24 she brought into the marriage was hers because Paul would not give her anymore money. However, all those who knew Georgene noticed she always had Paul money in her purse and was willing to use it to buy lunch or get her hair done. Upon her marriage, she agreed to move to the Piatt family farm for 2 years, but she ended up there for 43 years before finally retiring with Paul and living the city life in Edmond, OK. While on the farm, Granny enjoyed teaching her granddaughters to sew, cook, and bake, while making sure her grandsons had all the food they could eat. Her husband Paul Piatt (of 74 years), parents Orville and Sadie Downing, siblings Bubs and Glenn Downing, daughter-in-law Vicki Piatt, and granddaughter Sherry Ernest preceded her in death. She is survived in death by her sisters Jo Willson and Marilyn Carroll and leaves behind an amazing legacy: children Hugh Piatt & Marie Gately and Paula Jean & Jess Ernest; grandchildren Courtney Piatt, Hugh & Shanna Piatt, Whitney & Paul Warren, Scott & Lori Ernest; great-grandchildren Kristin Rangel, Michael & Brookeana Piatt, and Kaylee & Austin Samulowitz; Kent & Kayla Warren, Cole & Arin Warren; Kaylee, Jayden, Anthony, & Harley Ernest; great-great grandchildren Victoria & Charlotte Rangel, Mykael & Gideon Piatt, Johnnie Samulowitz, and Judah Warren along with several nieces and nephews.
