Gene Edward Brewer 71 formerly of McAlester, OK passed away October 29, 2020 at the Oklahoma City Veterans Hospital.

Gene was born July 23,1949 in Atoka Oklahoma to Floyd David and Wilma Marie (Morgan) Brewer.

Gene married Helen Joy Anne Gilbreath on Sept 4, 1985.

Gene graduated from Atoka High School in 1967. He went on to acquire several certificates from Rose State College and Oklahoma State University.

Gene had many jobs over the years. He served as street superintendent for the town of NewCastle OK, as well as volunteer firefighter, he had been a store manager for Circle K and had worked for Frito Lay, but his favorite job was heavy equipment operator and supervisor.

Gene served our country in the United States Air Force from 1968-1972. Most of his time was spent in Vietnam.

Gene enjoyed watching sports especially football and baseball.

His favorite teams were OU Sooners and Atlanta Braves.

Gene had a servants heart and was always ready to help others. He created a ministry called S.W.A.T…….Service With A Testimony at First Assembly of God in McAlester. He enjoyed fixing things for the elderly and the widows.

Gene was a loving husband, father and grandfather.

Gene is survived by his wife Joy Brewer of the home 2 sons Anthony Brewer and wife Kathy of Fort Gibson, Greg Brewer and wife Goldie of Fort Gibson and one daughter Gina Brewer of Edmond.

Grandchildren Cody Sourjohn of Fort Gibson, Courtney Brewer of Fort Gibson, Dalton  Tholl and wife Morgan of Wainwright, Angelique Fulton of Muskogee and Amanda  Siedlik of Fort Gibson.

Great Grand Child Delaney Sourjohn of Wagoner

Sisters Bonnie Davis and husband Danny of Gainesville TX and Ruby Compton and husband Jeff of Rowlett TX.

Brother Eddie Brewer of Dennison TX. and many beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins

He was preceded in death by his parents Floyd and Wilma Brewer. Sisters Margaret Brewer, Mary Powell, Doris Killion and Lillie East and  brothers Floyd Brewer Jr. and Clarence Brewer.

Services will be held at 9:00 a.m. on Tuesday, November 3, 2020 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment at Fort Gibson National Cemetery in Fort Gibson, OK.

Viewing will be held on Monday, November 2, 2020 from 12-8:00 p.m.
