Gayle Nina Hawkes

1945 – 2023
Gayle Nina Hawkes, 78, of Edmond passed away peacefully Tuesday February 28, 2023. She was born in Kingston Ontario Canada on January 29, 1945 to Doris and James Rennie. She married Albert Hawkes in 1966, and imigrated to the United States. Gayle was a proud Marine Corps wife, homemaker and mother to her two children, Tracey and Jeremy. She enjoyed many hobbies. Cross-stitch, sewing, baking, spending time outdoors, bowling, shopping, bingo, watching movies, playing games and watching TV were some of her favorites.
Gayle returned to her hometown, Kingston, Ontario, Canada after 30 years. She treasured the time with her brothers, sisters, nieces, nephews and dear friends. She enjoyed watching the moon come up at the park, going to the cottage and playing bingo.
After her retirement Gayle returned to Oklahoma to spend time with her children. Her grandchildren and great-grandchildren are here also. She was always up for any adventure. She excercised everyday and kept up with all the kids.
Gayle’s greatest pleasure was spending time with her family. She was a constant source of love and kindness to her family and friends. We will always cherish her loving spirit and generous heart. Gayle was a gentle soul and she left her loved ones with a lifetime of memories. She was dearly loved and will be truly missed.
Gayle is preceeded in death by her parents, James and Doris Rennie; sisters Tippy Simpson and Carol Bell; brothers Dwight Rennie, James Rennie and Errol Rennie. She is survived by her former husband Albert Hawkes; children Tracey and husband Phillip Meinecke of Edmond, Jeremy Hawkes and partner Jamie Lepper of Mustang; 7 grandsons, Corey Howard and partner Krystle Hay, Justin Meinecke, Matt Meinecke and partner Katie Milligan, Michael Meinecke and wife Rachel, Albert Hawkes and wife Carly, Dalton Hawkes and Dylan Hawkes. Also 17 great-grandchildren, Claudia, Jakob, Xander, Alivia, Charley, Briella, Samantha, Walker, Rilee, Blaike, Kasen, Kennedy, Kinsley, Aliss, Levi, Tyler and Bo. She is also survived by numerous nieces, nephews and other family members.
A very special person to her family who will miss her very much. With heartfelt sympathy extended to everyone, but especially her gorgeous and wonderful daughter Tracey and her handsome and loving son Jeremy (and of course their families).
You are all loved and should be proud to have had Gayle in your lives.
