Gary Eugene McDaniel
1962 – 2023
Gary Eugene McDaniel went to be with his Lord and Savior on September 11, 2023. He was the first born to Everett Eugene and Oneta May (Benne) McDaniel on May 8, 1962.
Gary graduated from Edmond High School in 1981, then went on to work at several jobs, however his favorite position was with Edmond Public Schools in custodial services at Sante Fe High School where he then retired in 1997 due to his health. He was a member of Waterloo Church of Nazarene, north of Edmond. Even though he didn’t attend in person, he never missed a week of watching their services online. Gary was talented at painting, crafts, crocheting and most often known for his floral arrangements. He was a devout follower of all OU sports and the OKC Thunder as well as major fan of Elvis.
Gary was preceded in death by his mother Oneta May (Benne) McDaniel, his maternal and paternal grandparents, his brother Steven Morren, and numerous aunts, uncles, and cousins on both sides of his family.
Gary is survived by his father Everett Eugene McDaniel and stepmother Debbie (Morren) McDaniel from Norman, his sister Sherri Deon McDaniel of their home in Edmond, brother Dennis Morren and friend Mandy Larson, his children Krystal, Matthew and Danielle and their families, sister Emily Watt and her husband Gregg, their children Amanda, Gryphon, Olivia, Sapphire, Ella, Amethyst, and Phoenix, very close cousins Kimberly Benne-Gray, her husband Fred and their daughter Kayla, Tamara McDaniel and Randy McDaniel. Gary also leaves behind many cousins, friends and loving neighbors Paula Barker and family.
Gary will be greatly missed by his family and all who knew and loved him.
To end in Gary’s own words, “Love and God Bless you.”
The family would like to express a thank you to the Edmond Fire Department, Edmond Police Department, EMSA, all the doctors, nurses and staff at Integris Hospital for the kindness and care they all provided.
Gary had a great love of flowers, however in lieu of flowers, please donate to your favorite charity or church family in Gary’s name.
Public visitation will be held Sunday, September 17, 2023, from 2:00 p.m. to 4:00 p.m. with family present to greet friends and guests at Matthews Funeral Home.
Services will be held Monday, September 18, 2023, beginning at 2:00 p.m. at the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel. Interment will follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.
