1933 – 2023
Our hearts ache with loss but celebrate the heavenly rest of our beloved Frankie Tallon who passed from this world on October 6, 2023, one month shy of her 90th birthday, after a courageous battle with Parkinson’s disease. Born Frankie Lavern Robinson on November 11, 1933 as the third of four children to Otto and Iva, Frankie was a shining example of kindness, faithfulness, wisdom, generosity, and love. She graduated from Terral High School in 1951 and married her high school sweetheart, Charles Marion Tallon, in 1956 following his service in the Navy. The couple enjoyed nearly 59 love-filled years together before Marion’s passing in 2017. They were blessed with two children: Bruce in 1957 and Kelly in 1964, and delighted in watching their family grow to include five grandchildren and six great-grandchildren.
In addition to being a wonderful wife, mother, and grandmother, Frankie was a devoted friend who treasured her social connections. She and Marion loved traveling with friends, and also loved gathering them at a little slice of heaven they built together on Lake Tenkiller. Friends and family alike share countless fond memories of being welcomed into living the good life together in the simple sunshine of that eastern Oklahoma oasis.
Frankie and Marion also adored sports of any kind, and especially enjoyed cheering on the teams at Oklahoma Christian University, OU, the OKC Thunder, and the Texas Rangers. The couple was known to travel near and far to attend sporting events, and even joked about driving through small towns on Friday nights and stopping at a random high school just to catch a good ball game.
Frankie’s professional life found her diligently working with Southwestern Bell in both Chickasha and Duncan, and with DPS in Oklahoma City before retiring in 1999. In retirement, Frankie found great joy in nurturing ties with friends and family through book clubs, holiday brunches, and innumerable church gatherings. Frankie’s faith was foundational to her life, as was her church family, and she and Marion served for decades in Church of Christ congregations in Newcastle, Del City, and Memorial Road in Edmond. Frankie was predeceased by husband Marion, son Bruce, sister Thelma Johnston, and brother Garl Robinson. She is survived by sister Judy McCorkle; daughter Kelly Tallon George and husband Kelly, their children Jackson, Jase, Jade and husband Abel; wife of the late Bruce, Terry Jobe and their children Tyler, wife Brooke, and their children James and Jude; and Zack, wife Lauren, and their children Eli, Evyn, Emmy, and Ellis Frankie.
