Frances Jo Watkins was born in Roosevelt, OK on Jan. 5, 1929 the daughter of George and Birdie (Malone) McKinnis. She entered into God’s eternal care on July 1, 2015 in OKC. Jo worked outside the home in her early years, and afterward devoted herself as a mother, wife, and homemaker. She was married to her high school sweetheart, Raymond Watkins, for 69 years. Jo’s greatest joy was to share her resources to help those around her.
She was preceded in death by her parents, one sister, Alma Fowler, two brothers-in-law, Sherman Fowler and Forrest McIntire, as well as one nephew, Richard Fowler.
She is survived by her husband, Ray, son Edwin Watkins with wife Debbi, granddaughter Alicia Watkins Sabatino with husband Dr. Michael Sabatino and their infant son Sean Michael, Jo’s only great grandchild. Her son Randal Watkins with wife Donna and grandson Ben also survive.
Hazel McIntire is her remaining sister. She leaves two nieces Sandy Murphy-Largo and husband Rich Largo, as well as Gail Turner and husband Carl.
Visitation will be held at Matthews Funeral Home on Sunday, July 5th from 2:00-6:00 p.m. Services will be held at 10:00 on Monday, July 6, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Hobart Rose Cemetery in Hobart, Oklahoma.
In lieu of flowers donations can be made to the Salvation Army Center of Hope Building Fund.
