A wake service will be held 6:00pm Thursday May 7, 2015 at Matthews Funeral Home. Her funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 a.m. Friday, May 8th at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, Edmond.

Jean was born Apr. 11, 1931, in Olney Illinois, a daughter of Neil and Johanna Kapper. She married John D. Stacy June 21, 1969 in Olney.
She is survived by her husband John; a daughter, Pamela Tilley, two sons, Daniel Stacy, and Mark Stacy; four grandchildren, Emma Tilley, Grant Tilley, Claire Tilley, and Zane Tilley; four brothers, Lester Kapper, Bill Kapper, Jim Kapper, and Jerry Kapper, and four sisters, Eileen Beuthien, Mary Dowty, Janice Morgan, and Marjorie Blunt.

She was preceded in death by her parents, one brother, Edwin Kapper, and one sister, Judy Crosby. .

Jean graduated from Olney High School. She worked as a secretary at Union Oil and served as President in Desk and Derrick for years before starting a family and raising her three children. After her children were grown, Jean returned to work at the University of Central Oklahoma before retiring. When not working, Jean enjoyed singing with her church choir, raising her many pets and flowers, and creating strong friendships with those she met. Jean was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Edmond. Jean was deeply caring and kind. She enjoyed music, especially crooners, church hymns, and show tunes; and was known to sing herself – whether in her church choir or at home – with talent and enthusiasm. She took comfort and strength from her church where she often served in the choir. She loved to cook, and it would be hard to find anyone who knew her very long who did not enjoy her delicious deserts and award winning pies. As “Sis”, Mom, and Grandma, she took delight in her family and remains a warm and comforting presence in their lives. Donations may be made in honor of Jean to the American Cancer Society.

Uncle John, Pam, Dan, Mark and Family,

You are in our thoughts and prayers as you journey through this bittersweet time. I will never forget visiting with “Aunt Sissy” at grandma and grandpa Kapper’s, what wonderful summers.
She was such a great support for mom (Eileen) before and after her heart surgery. I was glad to know that they were talking to each other on a regular basis and such a great support for each other.
God Bless You, Love, Kathy and Don

Dear Uncle John, Pam, Dan, Mark and family,
We are so sad that Aunt “Sis” is no longer with us. She was a truly lovely person and the heart and soul of our extended Kapper family. It meant so much to my mom and I that Sis came to visit us here in Indiana, especially with my dad in the nursing home. Brother Bill always lit up so much seeing Sis. The world is much dimmer for the loss of such a wonderful lady but heaven is that much brighter. You are in our thoughts and prayers and we carry Sis’s loving memory fondly in our hearts.
    in sympathy,
    Lisa, John, Anna & Lucy

I knew Jean while taking quilting classes at Olney Central College in Olney, IL. We joked that it would take us 10 years to finish 1 quilt while sewing by hand. Well, mine is still not finished. I loved talking to Jean as she always had a story to tell and made us laugh all evening. She loved showing pictures of her family and telling stories about each one. She will be sorely missed.

Jean was the administrative assistant at UCO in the department where I worked for many years. I started at UCO in 1990 and worked with Jean until she retired. She was a saint of a woman who I remember always smiling and loving to laugh. And boy could she cook! I’m honored to have some of her recipes and think of her every time I bake them. We were sad to see her leave UCO. What a kind woman. I’m sorry for your loss.
