
Emma Lee Hawkins
1949 – 2025
Our Beloved, Emma Lee Hawkins was a beautiful, vibrant, strong, caring, and determined woman that passed away on January 20, 2025. She never met a stranger, and her laugh, humor, and spirit would light up any room. Emma was born June 07, 1949, to Mr. and Mrs. Marie and Eddie Hawkins in Oak Grove, Louisiana. Emma graduated from Combs-McIntyre High-school in 1968, and afterwards, she traveled to Detroit, Michigan, and later to Chicago, Illinois to explore career opportunities, but eventually settled in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, where she was greeted with the opportunity to help care for her niece and nephew, Phillip and Pamela Hawkins, and called home. Emma not only devoted herself to the care of the family, but she also dedicated herself to furthering her education by taking classes at OIC (1970-1971). Emma later received a certificate of completion in the Administrative Program and mastered 10- key by touch, as well as increasing her typing skills; 80-100 words per minute. Upon graduating from the program, Emma was hired at Kerr McGee, as a file clerk and later moved on to become a Civil Service employee through the Internal Revenue, where she notified customers of taxes due. Emma mastered helping all clients with her advanced knowledge and effective skills to communicate and deescalate irate customers in this position. Later, Emma enrolled into the Paralegal Program at Rose State College (1987-1989) and obtained a multitude of advanced job skills which led Emma to become an employee at AOL, as a customer service representative, where she saved accounts, and went above and beyond in meeting a monthly quota. Emma also enrolled at Francis Tuttle and completed the program in Business Administration; 2007. Emma experienced some health issues that led to temporary setbacks, however she continued to persevere, and went on to become an employee at AAR Corporation, where she was an Inventory Specialist, and excelled in her position by eliminating order errors and delivery mistakes. Emma obtained an impeccable work ethic that her co-workers appreciated and loved.
Emma was a loving and caring Mother, Sister, Aunt, Friend, and Co-worker. She married Larry A. West Sr., her high-school sweetheart, and through this union, came Larry A. West Jr. and Montrey D. West. Emma’s pride and joy were spending time with her children, grandchildren Tristan K. Jackson and Alysska D. West. Emma has surviving family that will miss her tremendously, but her spirit and legacy will carry on in the hearts of her loved ones. Emma is survived by her children, Larry A. West Jr., daughter, Montrey D. West, brother, Eddie Hawkins Jr., sister, Faye Brown, nieces, Pamela Hawkins, Linda Robertson, and Tameka, and nephew, Vincent Hawkins, and plenty of other family members and friends.
Emma is predeceased by husband, Larry A. West Sr., mother, Marie Hawkins, father, Eddie Hawkins Sr., sisters, Pauline, Janice, Martha, and Francis Hawkins, nephew Phillip Earl Hawkins.
