Elsie Zachry, age 89, died Tuesday, May 14, 2024, at the home of her daughter, Melba Knight, in Edmond, OK.
She was born, Elsie Hester Moses, to Jim and Lillie Moses, on August 8, 1934 in Gordo, Alabama.
She was a retiree of the United States Post Office in Fort Worth, Texas. She was avid about education and was a lifelong learner. She loved to read, sing, and work crossword puzzles throughout her life.
Elsie was predeceased by her daughter, Kathy Diane Zachry and two grandchildren, Charles and Wendy Gallant.
She is survived by three daughters, Debra Cantrell of Texarkana, Texas, Becky Booher of Centerton, Arkansas, Melba Knight of Edmond, Oklahoma and her son and daughter-in-law, Michael and Katherine Zachry of Rocky Mount, North Carolina, as well as, many grandchildren, great-grandchildren and several great-great grandchildren.
Elsie was cremated and there will be a memorial service for her August 31, 2024 in Glen Rose, Texas and her urn will be buried in the Granbury Cemetery next to her oldest daughter, Kathy Zachry.
