Elsie B. Veitch
March 9, 1930 – September 28, 2017
Elsie Blanche Veitch, aged 87, died peacefully on September 28th, 2017 at Enlivant Assisted Living in Oklahoma City, after a stroke on September 24th. Elsie was born March 9th, 1930 in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, the 6th child of 10 children to Fred and Elsie Caldarelli.
In 1950, Elsie married the love of her life William Veitch after the Second World War. They lived in New Kensington, Pennsylvania. William took a job with the then Health, Education and Welfare Department moving the family to Dover, Delaware then to Washington, D.C., Lexington, Kentucky, Atlanta, Georgia, Knoxville, Tennessee and landing in Edmond, Oklahoma in their retirement years to be close to their sons. In addition to raising their three sons she also taught under privileged children during the 1960’s with Head Start in Washington, volunteered at many charities throughout her life and also worked for the Health, Education and Welfare Department for over 20 years. Throughout her life she loved to talk politics to anyone who would listen. She also loved to crochet, needlepoint and knit.
Elsie is survived by her brother Fred and sister Jean; sons, William Veitch of Oklahoma City, Kris Veitch of Oklahoma City and Eric Veitch of Copenhagen, Denmark. Grand-daughters Heather Veitch, Amanda Bruce, Clara Veitch and her grandsons Wesley Conway, David Conway, and Lucas Veitch, seven great grandchildren a number of other relatives and close friends.
There will be a private graveside service for immediate family members at the Fort Sill National Cemetery, Elgin, Oklahoma.
