Ellen L. Chambers
Ellen L. (Germann) Chambers passed away on June 6th, 2018, surrounded by her family. Ellen was born on May 18, 1935, in Pawnee, Illinois, to Clifford and Betty (Willoughby) Germann. She graduated from Pawnee High School and then worked as a telephone operator in Taylorville, Illinois. She married Bob Lee Chambers in 1956. Bob and Ellen and their expanding family, moved to southern California in 1959, where in addition to raising 5 rambunctious boys, Ellen sold jewelry and became a very accomplished seamstress. In 1977, the entire family relocated to Edmond Oklahoma, and Ellen joined “The Decorating Gallery”, making hand crafted specialty draperies, curtains, comforters and other interior design accessories. Ellen later became an independent business woman and continued to use her skills for multiple designers across Edmond and Oklahoma City. She worked until the week before she was hospitalized. Ellen was preceded in death by her parents, a sister (Dorothy) brothers (Clifford, Donald, Jay and Charles) and her loving husband of so many years, Bob. She leaves behind another sister (Anne Millburg) and brother (Jim Germann) as well as her children: Bobby and wife Dora, Rick and wife Brenda, Rodney, Rory and Randy. She will also be missed by her 8 grandchildren and 6 great grandchildren, as well as her ‘decorating group’ and “NAMI” friends.
Viewing will be held from 3:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m., Monday, June 11th at Matthews Funeral Home. Service will be at 10:00 a.m., Tuesday, June 12, 2018 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery.
My Aunt Ellen was one of the kindest, most loving and generous person. Our hearts are broken and we will always remember your smile and sweet voice, Aunt Ellen. So many happy memories of being together, especially in IL when we would visit Grandma and also when we got to see you in 2016. Our prayers are with all of you, Bobby and Dora, Rodney, Rory, Rick and Brenda, Randy, and families. All our love, Mary and Mike
Thinking of you Bobby, Rick and your family in this time of sorrow.
I’m very sorry for each of you but not for Ellen. She is now back with Bob and in Heaven. My mother, Ann Floyd Dorries, has several pictures of Bob and Ellen holding me not long after my birth in March, 1956.
It’s so hard to believe she is gone, but never forgotten.
Instead of flowers, we would like to make a donation in her name to a church or charity. Please, let me know where I can do this.
I never had the joy and honor of meeting Ellen in person but was given the joy of knowing her online for years. She was such a sweet sweet lady and I know that she is so happy to be back with her Bob. MY condolences to the family during this difficult time. May God give you grace, peace and love.
I met Ellen on a blog site years ago and we have remained on line friends for many years. Carolyn E. Ellen’s long time friend, introduced us.
Ellen loved her Bob, her sons and their families.
