Edward Michael GreenGreen, Edward obit

1953-2017

“Mike” Edward Michael Green, of Edmond, OK, passed away at home on July 1, 2017, at 64 years old surrounded by his family. Mike was the oldest son of Edward and Marjorie Green of Oklahoma City, where he grew up with two brothers, four sisters, and many cousins and relatives. He graduated from John Marshall High School in 1972 and then attended UCO where he was a member of Acacia fraternity. In 1976, he went through the OSU firefighter’s academy and was hired by the Village Fire Department, where he eventually retired in 2003 after 26 years of service. After retiring Mike started his own inspection business, and he was also one of the son’s of Green and Sons heat/air and plumbing business that his dad started in the early 1950’s.

On December 27th, 1985 Mike married Torrie Burandt of Pharr, TX. Mike and Torrie first lived in the Village, then Mike built their home in the Deer Creek school district in Edmond. Mike was certainly a “jack of all trades” man; he built a home, remodeled a home, and there was nothing he couldn’t fix or do. Mike enjoyed many activities and sports. If anyone wanted a sports question answered, Mike was the man to ask—he was a sports buff. Mike loved working out & body building, and was also an excellent water skier. Mike loved to watch Madison play basketball and Cody play sports of all kinds. “Pa Green” will always hold a special place in so many hearts of his children’s friends. Mike loved camping outings with family & friends. Family was everything to Mike, and he always supported them 100%. His 3 grandchildren were the highlight of his life.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents Edward & Marjorie Green, his brother Richard and sister Denise. He is survived by his wife Torrie, his daughter Madison & son-in-law Caleb Banister, his son Cody, and grandchildren Anna, Benjamin and Henry. Mike also leaves behind sister Barbara Hollingsworth & Rick of Gilbert, AZ, sister Cindy Petree & John, sister-in-law Trena Green, brother Joe Green & Dara, and sister Jeanne Green, as well as many numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, aunts & an uncle, along with many friends.

In lieu of flowers please donate to the Parkinson’s foundation or your favorite charity. Memorial service to be at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Saturday July 8th, 2017 at 3:00 p.m.

Mike was a good man. Not long after Torrie came to work for me at Metro First Realty of Edmond, I met Mike at the office one day. I always thought Mike and Torrie made a cute couple. Mike did several home inspections for me over the years. It was obvious that he cared about people and enjoyed life. He will be missed but we will never forget him. Family at home and at Metro First hold the family in our prayers during this tough time and beyond. May god bless you all forever!

I am so sorry to hear of Mike’s passing. Speaking for myself and the Burgess Family…neighbors for so long…we’ve loved and respected the Green Family (and Mike) for a long time. Being a little older, I watched Mike grow up. I remember that as a younger one of the neighborhood kids he held his own at sports and was kind to everyone. As an adult, I remember Mike helping my next-door parents with their aging issues. I know Mike became a family leader after the passing of his Dad. He was good man.

I wish to extend my deepest sympathies to the family. Our prayers and those of our Sunday School Class will be with you. I especially want to thank Barbara for making the difficult call to tell me about Mike. It was a call that I’ve previously gotten from Mike when things happened in the Green Family. Until we all meet in a better place,

    Don Burgess
