Dustin R. Hager

“All in” tells the life story of Dustin Hager. When Dustin loved someone or something, he loved with all he had. A doting husband to his wife Morgan, and a proud and loving father to his daughter Brynli, his quiet wisdom and gentle heart made the world a better place.

Dustin was a quiet comedian with a quick wit who loved and cherished his family beyond measure.

His intelligence was equally shared between being hilarious and being brilliant in conversation.

Dustin loved to travel with the love of his life, Morgan. Together they shared enormous adventures  filled with laughter and love, packing a lifetime of joy into their time together.  One memorable trip, while on a rocking cruise ship off the coast of New Zealand, Dustin made 19 shots in a row on the basketball court. However, when given an opportunity to shoot on the home court of his beloved Houston Rockets, he was too excited to make any shots.

Blessed with impeccable taste, Dustin was a scientist in the kitchen, learning and experimenting as he lovingly cooked for his family.  With a jug of kombucha in the fridge, he mastered recipes new and old,  and adored making Morgan his famous Gumbo, and Brynli her favorite Japanese Milk Bread.

He is preceded in death by his maternal grandmother, Loretta O’Shee, maternal grandfather, Richard N. O’Shee, father-in-law, Kent David, and brother-in-law, Jimmy Nichols.

Dustin is survived by his soulmate and wife, Morgan Hager, and incredible daughter, Brynli Hager, who he cherished.  He is also survived by his parents, Roy and Mary Hager, three younger sisters, Ashley Wilson (Wesley, Jaycie, Lizzie, and Riley), Brittany Groning (Aaron, Karsyn, Kamryn), and Catie Hager (Christian), his paternal grandmother, Carole Moore (Horace), and many loving aunts, uncles, and cousins.

Dustin was born with a congenital heart defect and would tell Morgan and Brynli that “he loved them with all of his heart and pieces of someone else’s.”  If inclined, please consider honoring Dustin by signing up to be an organ donor so more people like Dustin can grace our world for a bit longer.

In lieu of flowers, please consider a donation to Brynli Hager’s college fund. It was her Dad’s dream that Brynli pursue her passions and make a difference in the world.

My deepest sympathies to Morgan, Brynli and all who are feeling the loss of Dustin. I only knew Dustin through the happiness Morgan exuded once he and Brynli came into her life, but this memorial gives a beautiful glimpse into what inspired such happiness.

Sending thoughts of strength to you.
