    Carmen:
I only met you one time when Durfey brought you to his sisters funeral. Durfey’s mother took care of me when I was little and gave me my first dollar bill. I still have it. Durfey and his family were dear friends. I was his same age so we were friends all through school. Durfey was well loved here in Poteau. I am so sorry. I am praying for you and his family in these difficult time.

Coach Thompson made a huge impact on my teenage and early adult years. He taught me many things about myself and my inner strength and ability to persevere.

Please know that he truly made a difference for many student athletes. I am a better man and father for knowing him.

    Godspeed.

  13. Coach Thompson was our coach at Putnam City Central Jr. High in the early 80s. He had a commanding presence both on and off the field. He was a fine man.

    Rest in Peace Coach.
