Dorothy Ann Pulley & William Barner Pulley

1931-2023 1929-2020

The “more perfect union” of Bill and Dorothy Pulley came to an end when Dorothy joined Bill for a heavenly reunion on December 3, 2023.
Bill and Dorothy both grew up in small towns in Arkansas. Bill went off to college at the University of Mississippi where he played tackle on the Ole Miss football team. He later transferred to Arkansas Tech where he met the love of his life, Dorothy Ann Wilson. The two eventually married on October 13,1950. Their Arkansan upbringing and their mutual respect for each other would serve them well during their almost 70 years of marriage. Two daughters completed their family in the early 1950’s.
Bill is remembered as a man of many accomplishments. Professionally, he was a successful insurance supervisor for USF&G. He was also a 32nd degree Mason and a 50 year member of the Scottish Rite of Free Masonry. Bill was an avid golfer, hunter and fisherman. He loved watching any kind of sport on TV.
Dorothy was a longtime employee with APCO Oil and Woods Petroleum. She was active with Eastern Star and a proud member of the Daughters of the American Revolution. Her interest included ceramics, art and genealogy research. She loved reading mysteries and found great joy in decorating for the Holidays which included an impressive collection of Nutcrackers.
Bill, Dorothy and the girls enjoyed many fun trips to the mountains of Colorado. After moving to Oklahoma, they made many memorable family trips back to Arkansas to visit relatives. In their retirement years, they were very active with their Surrey Hill Country Club Community. Bill loved his many rounds of golf and he and Dorothy regularly hosted bridge and dominos in their home. They were also faithful members of Westminster Presbyterian Church in Oklahoma City.
Throughout the ups and downs of marriage, their love remained steadfast. They loved their daughters and their grandchildren and were proud of all their accomplishments. While Dorothy outlived Bill by three years, she knew she would meet up with him again in Heaven. Their lives will be remembered by their family and friends as ones well lived.
Dorothy was preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Kathryn Wilson, a brother Herb Wilson and of course, Bill. Bill was preceded in death by his parents William Sr. And Lucille Pulley Draughn, and brothers Charles and Robert Pulley.
Dorothy and Bill are survived by daughters Annie Pulley and Susie Pulley Gentilman (husband Dr. Mark Gentilman), grandchildren Christy Cooper Kleven (husband Koos Kleven) and Michael Cooper, niece Donna Miller (husband Larry Miller) and precious grand-pups, Baker and Inky.
