Diane B. Hesse
1934 – 2024
Diane Beth (Atchley) Hesse: Born in 1934 in Golden, Colorado to George W. Atchley Sr. and Amy E. (Lundeen) Atchley.
Diane passed into glory and the presence of her Lord and Savior in 2024. All who have known her have lost connection with a deeply spiritual soul and friend. She was preceded in death by her parents and brother George W. Jr.
Diane was reared in Minnesota in a Swedish culture that prioritized family and hard work. Her northern Midwest accent faded by the time she arrived in Oklahoma in 1976 but it could always be summoned when she returned to Minnesota.
Diane graduated from Cambridge High School, Cambridge, MN. She graduated from the University of Minnesota with a degree in Dental Hygiene. She worked for many years assisting orthodontists in Minnesota and California. She graduated from the Education for Ministry program out of the School of Theology at the University of the South, Sewanee, TN.
Diane met, was courted by, and finally married William at the First Lutheran Church in Inglewood, CA in 1962.
Diane was a capable and adroit homemaker, household manager and cherished life partner of husband Rev. William.
Diane greatly loved her family and family gatherings. She was the proud mother of three successful children: Carol (Hesse) Adams (Jeff), Paul (Mandy) & Kyle (Starla). She was known as Nana or Oma by her grand and great-grandchildren.
The family requests memorial contributions be made in Diane’s memory to St. Jude Children’s Hospital, Memphis, TN or St. Mary’s Episcopal Church, Edmond, OK.
My sister-in-law was loved by so many and she will be greatly missed. Diane was an amazing sister and so much fun to be around. Before she took care of her husband and family with loving devotion, she raised her little brother, George, to be a wonderful man. My deepest sympathies to the entire family.
