Denis Joseph Senechal
1946 – 2023

Denis Joseph Senechal, 76, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2023, at his home in Edmond, OK. He was born November 16, 1946, in Montmagny, Quebec, Canada, the son of Leo Joseph and Rachel (Simoneau) Senechal.
Denis had a true talent for building just about anything! He brought great workmanship to anything he touched – anything from building furniture to installing floor tile. If he did not know how to do something, he would study, research and have deep thoughts on what steps it took to accomplish the end-product. If he was not happy with his creation, he would start all over again. He had a deep-seeded sense of self-worth. As a young boy, he learned many of his skills from his father, Leo, which he carried with him throughout his lifetime.
Following his graduation from high school, Denis joined and served in the Canadian Air Force as a navigator in the AWACS program. While in the military, he received his undergraduate degree and after 30 years of service, retired at the rank of a Major in 1995. Denis’ career allowed him to visit many places such as Germany, France, Belgium, Iceland, Colorado, Alaska and all over Canada. He met his wife, Lana while stationed at Tinker Air Force Base in Midwest City, OK. They were married in 1990 before moving to Elmendorf Air Force Base in Anchorage, Alaska for his last assignment. They celebrated 33 years of marriage this past July.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his oldest sister, Lise Huguette Marie (Senechal) Bradley and his brother-in-law, Tom Bradley both of Richmond, Ontario, Canada. Surviving in addition to his wife, Lana (Logan) Senechal of the home, are his son, Trevor Senechal and his wife, Dayna, of Moore, OK; daughter, Shae Briggs and her husband, Tommy, of Edmond, OK; one grandson, Peyton Briggs and his wife, Quetzaly, of Edmond, OK; one granddaughter, Lizzie Briggs of Edmond, OK; youngest sister, Ginette Judith Marie Senechal, of Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, Canada; 2 nephews, Paolo Roncali, of Toronto, Ontario, Canada and Rene Roncali, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada; one great nephew, Seth Brown, of Brockville, Ontario, Canada and one great niece, Breanna Roncali, of Ottawa, Ontario, Canada.
A family Celebration of Life will be held in early October at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, OK. In lieu of flowers, please send any donations to the National Multiple Sclerosis Society or the American Cancer Society in memory of Denis.
What a dear, sweet, and always kind friend. Denis could always make me smile. He was so good to my dear friend Lana. A wonderful husband, father and grandfather. He will be truly missed. Love and prayers to the whole family. Jan Sarber West
So truly sad to learn of Denis’ passing. I worked with Denis for 7 years while we both served in the Royal Canadian Air Force in Oklahoma and Alaska. Denis was a mentor, and a friend. There are so many things I could say about all the good times, the outstanding work we did together, or the hours Shirley, Lana, Denis and I spent together. Rest in Peace. Stand Easy my friend.

Grew up with Denis in Ottawa, Ontario – he was my best friend then and I always considered him one of my closest friends. We knew each other for more than 60 years. He was a true gentleman and the world is just a little bit less in his passing. Sandy and I send our condolences to Lana and his family – may his memory be cherished by all that knew and loved him.
Nice to hear you were aware of Denis’ passing.
Fond memories of our time at Rockcliffe

My deepest condolences to Lana, Trevor, Shae and the entire Senechal family. I had the honour of serving in Alaska at Elmendorf Air Force Base with Denis. He was a great operator, staff officer and personal friend. We shared many great laughs and times. He will be missed by all that knew him and were touched by him…Robert Clark, Brigadier General (Retired) RCAF
