David William Henderson
January 4, 1945 – November 2, 2021
David William Henderson, age 76, passed away on Monday, November 2nd , 2021 at Oklahoma Heart Hospital with his wife of 51 years at his side.
David was born January 4th,1945, to Silas and Alice (Dillon) Henderson and was the oldest of three siblings. He graduated from Enid High School in 1963. He then joined the National Guard where he served for 6 years.
David married Barbara Anderson on May 9th, 1970, in Ponca City Oklahoma. The couple had two children together Krista and Jeff. He was a great family man and a loving father.
David had a 44-year career as a computer systems analyst. He retired in 2007. After retiring David had the opportunity to pursue several of his favorite hobbies. He was deeply involved in restoring old Mustangs and listening to classic rock music. He loved building and launching model rockets with his grandson, Ryan, his pride, and joy. David had recently achieved a level 2 certification under the National Association of Rocketry as a member of the Tulsa High Power Rocketry Club. His family and friends will always remember how much he loved spending time with his grandson, Ryan, and sneaking dog treats to his grand dog, Bullet.
David is survived by his wife, Barbara Henderson of Edmond; his children Krista Henderson and Jeff Henderson both of Edmond; and his grandson, Ryan Henderson of Edmond. He is preceded in death by his parents, sister Gwen, and brother Larry. David is survived by sisters Nancy and Mary.
A funeral is scheduled for November 20th at 11:00 a.m., at Waterloo Road Baptist Church with a graveside service following at Waterloo Cemetery. Rev Ed Dowty and Rev Griff Henderson will officiate. All are welcome to attend and celebrate David’s life. The family would like to thank everyone for their prayers, love, and support.
