David Ray Jones

1933 – 2019

David Ray Jones of Edmond, Oklahoma was born April 28, 1933 in Burkburnett, Texas to John Keeble Jones and Lillian Ruth Jones (Turner). David passed away, at age 85, on January 22, 2019 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma.

David and Eva married on April 20, 1957 and were married for 59 ½ years. David served in the U.S. Air Force and received the National Defense Service Medal, as well as the Good Conduct Medal. He was a Retired Edmond Firefighter and a retired home builder. He also retired from Francis Tuttle Technology Center.

David enjoyed the outdoors; A few of his hobbies were gardening, fishing, camping and boating, golfing, and walking on the beach collecting shells. He also liked to travel and experience new places and things, such as trying new diners. Eating at Cracker Barrel and square dancing, in addition to spending time with his children and grandchildren, were among his favorite things to do.

David is survived by his daughter Terri Diane Burleson, and spouse Mark Burleson, of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, daughter Vicki Lynn Wood of Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and son Paul Douglas Jones of Edmond, Oklahoma. He is also survived by his grandchildren; Andrea Elliott, Matthew Burleson, Morgan Wood, and Kassidy Wood, as well as his great grandchildren; Triston Elliott, Beckett Burleson, and Benton Burleson. David’s surviving siblings are his brother Darrell Wayne Jones, and spouse Pam Jones, and sister Melba Esparza, and spouse Oscar Esparza.

David is preceded in death by; his wife, Eva Moses Jones, his father John Keeble Jones and mother Lillian Ruth Jones, his brother JD Jones, as well as his children Lori Ann Jones and Holli Denee Jones, and niece Debra Coleman-Brown.

Public visitation will be held at Matthews Funeral home on Sunday, January 27^th, 2019 from 12:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Services for David will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28^th, 2019 at Community Church. Interment will follow services, at Gracelawn Cemetery.

Memorial contributions can be made, in David’s name, to the Children’s Miracle Network.

Public visitation will be held from 12:00 p.m. – 8:00 p.m. Sunday, January 27, 2019.  Services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Monday, January 28, 2019 at Community Church of Guthrie, Ok.
