David Elton Jones
1942-2016
David Elton Jones went to his heavenly home on October 15, 2016. He was born in Pawnee, Oklahoma on October 23, 1942 and was adopted when he was seven by Elton and Dorothy Jones. He was raised in Church of Christ and was a member of the Edmond Church of Christ when he passed.
David was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Billy Smith. He is survived by his wife, Nancy; son Mark Richards and wife Becca; daughters Jeannie Jones and Jennifer Hughlett; eight grandchildren, Detrick Jr., Chris, Tony, Mikey, Jordan, Katelin, Audrey, and Lindsey; and brother Dana Andrews. He was very proud of his grandchildren and would not hesitate to tell others about them. He enjoyed fishing, watching college basketball and football, and spending as much time as he could with family.
David graduated from John Marshall High School and attended Oklahoma Christian College where he was involved in Chorus. He joined the Army and spent time in Italy but his favorite time was spent in Germany. After the Army, he went to work as a welder at Tinker Air Force Base where he worked until he retired.
In 1993, David was diagnosed with cancer but spent the next 23 years being thankful of the time he had and never lost that quick wit and playful sarcasm.
Graveside service will be 2:00p.m., Wednesday, October 19, 2016 at Memorial Park Cemetery. Funeral services are under the direction of Matthews Funeral Home.
