David A. Heringer
January 18, 1950 – June 21, 2020
David A. Heringer, 70, Edmond passed away peacefully at Oklahoma Heart Hospital on June 21, 2020, surrounded by those who love him. He was born on January 18, 1950, a son of Bill and Louise Heringer. He married the former Deborah Vaughan in 1973. David was a 1968 graduate of Harding High School and Oklahoma State University, Oklahoma City, Oklahoma in 1980. He served in the Oklahoma Air National Guard from 1971 to 1977. He was employed by the City of Oklahoma City for 33 years and was currently employed as a staff engineer specializing in hydraulics and hydrology with Johnson and Associates.
David was a registered Professional Engineer, Certified Floodplain Manager, Certified Engineering Technician, and Certified Hydrologic Technician. He was a member of the American Society of Civil Engineers, American Public Works Association, Oklahoma Floodplain Managers Association, Association of State Dam Safety Officials, and American Institute of Hydrology.
He was preceded in death by his parents
Survivors include his wife, Debbie and son, Patrick Heringer, and wife Meredith; grandchildren, Landon, Sullivan, and Mireye; sister, Patricia Pope, and husband Charlie; brother, Ed Heringer; brother-in-law, Steve Vaughan and wife Cindy and many nieces and nephews.
David loved spending much of his time outdoors and building computers. He held most dear to his heart, the time he spent with his family.
The family wishes to give thanks to the Oklahoma Heart Hospital employees, Randy, Angie, Joy, Eric and Daniel for their never-ending care in his final hours.
A visitation for friends will be held on Thursday, June 25, 2020 from 12:00 PM until 8:00 PM, with the family greeting guest from 5:00 until 7:00 at Matthews Funeral Home.
A Mass of Christian Burial will take place at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church on Friday, June 26, 2020, at 10:00 AM, with interment to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery in Edmond, Oklahoma.
