Gilbert Daniel Barton
November 27, 1936 – June 7, 2017
Dan Barton, a faithful Christian, loving husband, father of three, grandfather to six, great grandfather of two, passed away on June 7th. He was born in Tulsa Oklahoma on November 27, 1936, the middle child of Elmer and Gertrude Barton.
Dan joined the Air Force in 1955 and served as a weather specialist, retiring in 1976. He then went on to work for the National Weather service, retiring with a total of 50 years of service. Dan was always willing help anyone out in any way before his health declined. He showed kindness to all he met. As his favorite t-shirt says, he was a “Faith Walkin’, God Fearin’ Grandchild Lovin’ Grandpa for Christ.” He is survived by: His loving wife, Janet and three daughters, Nicole Adams and her husband Darren, Sheri Kelley and her husband, Joey. Brenda O’Bryant and her husband Duke. Grandchildren, Sheri’s son’s Paul and Brandon, Brenda’s children, Sarah and Nick, and Nicole’s daughter’s Mariah and Paige. His great grandchildren, Chance and Desmond. Brothers, Jack, Jerry and Phil and numerous nephews and nieces. He was precious to us all and will be greatly missed. A Celebration of Life Service will be held at Edmond Church of Christ at 10:00am on Thursday June 15, 2017.
