Cyril Thomas Zachary Jr.
Cyril Thomas Zachary Jr., born in Wagoner, Wagner County, Oklahoma 3/21/28. Started out as a farm boy driving a tracker when he couldn’t touch the pedals so his baby brother had to push them for him. Oldest of six boys Cyril, Dick, Jody, Archie, James, Darrell. Graduated from high school in Luther Oklahoma. Met my mom at a café in Luther Ok while working on the oil rigs. “Blondie” said she would not marry a rough neck so he quit and married her at 16 before she finished high school in Luther Oklahoma. Mom was also the oldest of six. He got a job at Tinker Field in OKC. Trained on aviation and electronics. Drafted into the Army. Met best friend Leon Witt. Worked with his brother Jody on the German border. Worked in aviation and electronics for the Army. Honorable discharge. Bought bedroom furniture before they had a place to live. Pastored a church in Luther Oklahoma. Built a house with his father-in-law in Spencer Oklahoma. Went to work for the Federal Aviation Administration as an inspector. Worked up the ranks and ultimately became one of the few inspectors to reach the top. While living in Oklahoma, he built a 40 foot houseboat (barge) in the middle of a farm, over an hour’s drive from any Lake. He had never even owned a boat before. Put the boat in Fort Gibson lake never knowing whether it would float. Fathered four children, Tommy, Cheryl, Noralee, and Dawn. For the F.A.A. was appointed to the Hawaiian Islands and surrounding areas. As the official inspector of that region, he inspected Air Force One for Jimmy Carter. He received a formal invitation to take him and his family to the President’s banquet to thank him for his service. When Nora saw the invitation and asked him why we didn’t go he said “I didn’t like him or vote for him as a President”. He put in to go to Texas. DFW airport was just starting to be built. Covered a 5 state region including work along the Mexican border. Lived in Texas for over 43 years. Retired in 1986. Moved to Oklahoma for 3 years Enjoyed working with and attending church with brother-in-law, Pastor John and Joneta Randell. Moved to Jamestown, North Carolina. He and mom attended Calvary Church in Greensboro. He was a dedicated Christian. He studied his Bible a minimum of 4 hours a day. He tithed and supported many missionaries and pastors his entire life. Elnora, passed away in 2015. They were one month shy of celebrating their 65th wedding anniversary. He went to be with the Lord on October 21, 2017. He is survived by daughter and husband Noralee and Joe Seigler and daughter Dawn Zachary. His ten Grand-children, Dale, Donahue, Cole, Drew, Ambre, Emily, Zachary, Travis, Taylor, Anson. His seven Great-grandchildren, Annebelle, Cory, J.T., Riley Killian, Stella, and Oliver. Wife (2015), Elnora, son (1996) Tommy Dale, daughter (1993) Cheryl Lyneice proceeded him in death. He is also survived by five brothers, Dick, Jody, Archie, James and Darrell Zachary. Services are 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 4, 2017 at Revive Church in Edmond, OK with burial to follow at Luther Cemetery.
