1955-2019
Curtis Wayne Voss, 63, of Luther stepped from this life into his Eternal home on May 29, 2019. He was born to Robert and Mary Lynn Lankford Voss on November 7, 1955 in Oklahoma City, OK. He and Linda Sharon Moore Voss were married on February 16, 1973 in Oklahoma City, OK. Curtis graduated from John Marshall High School in 1974.
Curtis’ greatest joy in life was working on the farm. He began working with his dad, and continued to work cattle with his boys and grandsons. You could always find him in a field hauling hay, in the barn milking his dairy cows, or at the sale in Perkins looking for the best calf. He would always take a little break on summer days to visit Rooster’s Café in Jones to enjoy a freshly cooked burger, fries, and sweet tea. He would never get the chicken though, because, “…. it was called fowl for a reason.”
One of Curtis’ final wishes was to express his gratitude to the people he worked with on the farm, at church, and in his daily life. He was an active member of First Southern Baptist Church Arcadia for 24 years where he taught an adult Sunday School class, could be counted on to sing baritone in the choir, and faithfully served at Oak Hill Nursing home. He went every other week to the House of Life in Arcadia to serve the youth that stayed there with Richard and Jeremy.
Curtis regularly watched classic westerns, and enjoyed relaxing in the evenings with his Bible or a good book to end the day. One of Curtis’ favorite verses of Scripture was Proverbs 3:5-6, it reads, “Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge Him, and He shall direct thy paths.”
