1949-2017

Connie Sue Mashburn, 67, went to be with the Lord on February 9, 2017, with her family and friends by her side in Guthrie, Oklahoma.

Connie was born on November 22, 1949, in Wayne, Oklahoma to Robert Barney “Jack” Moore and Helen Christine (Scott) Moore.

Connie attended Oklahoma Christian College in 1970 where she met Jerry Mashburn on a blind date while he was on leave from military service. They were married on July 3, 1971. Connie graduated with a teaching degree and applied her passion while teaching at LWA/OCA for 26 years. She loved quilting “preemie” blankets for local hospitals and creating menus for the church’s Monday for the Master. She could be found every summer cooking for Sooner Youth Camp side-by-side with many other members of her family. Her other interests included photography, gardening, 3-wheeling, and mercilessly destroying her opponents in Nertz games.

Connie is preceded in death by her parents, Jack and Helen Moore, as well as her mother-in-law, Maxine Mashburn.

She is survived by her three sisters and spouses: Barbara and David Barger, Sandra and Earl Shephard, Karen and David Bridgwater, her brother Robbie Moore and his wife Sharon; husband: Jerry Mashburn; father-in-law: Wayne Mashburn; daughter: Shelly Walker and her husband Matt; son: Aaron Mashburn and his wife Amy; five grandchildren: Cade, Madylin, Victoria, Cash, and Cane; and thousands of nieces and nephews (mostly Bridgwater’s).

A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m., Monday, February 13, 2017 at the Edmond Church of Christ.

Memorial donations may be made to the Fort Worth Pregnancy Center at www.fwpcfriends.org/donate

Connie was a gracious woman. She always had a smile on her face and a song in her heart. She touched the lives of so many children during her teaching career and it was obvious she had a great passion for teaching. Some of those students went on to be teachers.

Oh yes I remember a Nertz party she had at her house. She and I won with a “not to forget” count of 49 cards played.

Our thoughts are with you at this time of loss.

  2. Connie was a joy to know and to be around. She lived her life fully with a zest for anything she did. She demonstrated love, strength and perseverance. Her smile and happy disposition will remain for all who were blessed to know her.
