Bolen Chris

Christopher Glen Bolen, 70, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away peacefully on Saturday, September 2, 2017 after battling Lewy Body Dementia for several years.

Chris was born in Oklahoma City on April 15, 1947. He grew up in Carnegie, Oklahoma and graduated from Carnegie High School. He went on to attend The University of Oklahoma where he earned a Bachelor of Science in Education and a Master of School Administration.

Chris married the love of his life, Brenda, on October 25, 1980. Together they have three children and seven grandchildren.

Chris was a respected school leader in Moore Public Schools; he served as an elementary school principal for over thirty years. He dedicated forty-two years of his life guiding children, families and teachers, who were fortunate to know and work with him. He also served the Oklahoma Educators Credit Union, where he held many leadership roles. Chris was a member of the Supervisory Committee, and was later elected to the Board of Directors in 2009. He became the Chairman of the Board from 2013-2014. Chris was a friend to many, and he will be dearly missed by all who knew him personally and professionally.

Chris loved our Lord, he valued his role in church leadership and service. His greatest love was for his wife and family. He celebrated his children and grandchildren, and was very proud of their accomplishments. He cherished the time they shared together. He enjoyed playing golf, camping, OU Football, cruising and spending time with the people most dear to him. The mountains were Chris’ favorite place, he enjoyed cool summers in Colorado.

Chris is survived by his wife, Brenda, and their three children; Alycia Maurer, and her husband, Robert, and their children Rachel and Trey, Chad Williams, and his wife Heather, and their children, Halle, Cason, and Harper, Rhett Bolen and his wife, Elizabeth, and their children, Isla and Jude. Chris is also survived by his sister, Leslie Hawkins and her husband Ken, and family. Chris’ life was also enriched by his relationships with his in-laws; mother and father in–law, Dean and Virginia Niles, brother and sister in-laws, Deana and Larry Olsen, Brent and Cindy Niles, Stacey and David Knight, and many nieces and nephews.

The Bolen family extends appreciation to family and friends for their support during Chris’ illness. We are especially grateful for Mission Hospice, Kathi, Debbie, Samuel, Jill and Johnny. We also appreciate the loving Stone Creek family who took incredible care of Chris and our family in the short time he was there. You have all nurtured our hearts in ways we will always cherish.

He was truly dedicated to education and showed a genuine love for all chuldren under his tutelage. What a wonderful memory of my childhood revived at the mention of his name. My deepest condolences.

I have to say that Mr. Bolen was my favorite teacher ever! He was my 6th grade math teacher at Skyranch elementary. He was always so caring, patient and dedicated to making sure kids get a great education. I was elated when I found out he was the principal for my daughter all through grade school at Winding Creek elementary. He will be missed and remembered fondly. My deepest condolences for your family.

  5. Mr. Bolen was a great educator one of the first to treat our Danny like one of the kids! It did not matter where we were as years went on anytime Danny would see Mr. Bolen the response was the same….Mr. Bolen would say, “Hi Danny!” And Danny would say “Hi Bolen!” Both would hug it out. Brenda our prayers are with you and the family. Debbie Venard

  7. We will truly miss Chris! Roger and I have so many fond memories. I was blessed to have Chris Bolen as my math teacher in fifth and sixth grade. Then when I taught at Sky Ranch with Brenda which is where our friendship began. Roger loved playing racquetball with the guys. What a great vacation we had in 1991 with our families! I was so lucky to follow in Chris’ footsteps at Earlywine. He made the transition so much easier for me. I will have Chris in my heart forever. We are thinking and praying for you Brenda, Rhett, Alycia and Chad.
