1970-2024

Christopher Alan Ward (July 9th, 1970 – April 10th, 2024)
“Chris was family” is something that has been repeated by many since his passing. He loved to make his rounds visiting or calling his loved ones and always lent a helping hand where he could.
Christopher Alan Ward, 53 years old, of Guthrie, Oklahoma, passed away on April 10th, 2024.
He was born in Guthrie on July 9th, 1970 to Carrie Burrow and Alan Ward. He attended Harrah Schools and graduated from Prague High School before entering into oil field construction and later contract work for the FAA. His work took him all over the country and eventually to places like Guam and Puerto Rico. He enjoyed the travel but enjoyed being home more–working on his tree house and spending time outdoors.
Everyone who knew Chris knew that he loved to be outside whether it was skiing, hunting, fishing, or helping out friends with projects. He liked to watch sunrises and sunsets and took photos of them whenever he could. Chris was in the process of building his dream getaway–a treehouse with a view of the pond he’d fish and swim in. He was looking forward to retiring and spending his time there in his favorite place.
Chris will always be remembered for his humor and generosity and the way that he took care of those he loved. He would drop everything to help friends or family and they would do the same for him. We’ll always imagine hearing him say his catchphrase “Daaaaaaaang!” one more time. We couldn’t have asked for a better son, dad, brother, or friend, and will miss Chris every day. His memory will live on in the hearts of all those who loved him.
Chris was preceded in death by his mother Carrie Burrow Patterson and grandmother Bessie Burrow Brown. He is lovingly remembered by his daughter Bradyn Sidwell and son-in-law Jake Sidwell, his father Alan Ward and step-mother Deleta Ward, and his brothers Donovan Ward and Jason Thomas. Chris also leaves behind his nieces and nephews, dearest friends, and found family.
Funeral services will be held April 20th, 2024, 10:30 a.m., at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S Kelly Ave, with burial service afterward at Memorial Park Cemetery, 13400 N Kelley Ave.
I will be there to send my great friend off!
Chris was a great friend of mine and many others and I love him like a brother we all are going to miss you and your smile your sayings so much words can’t describe it.
Chris was a stand up guy! He was a good friend since high school of my son. I have many fond memories of him!
“Don’t cry because it’s over, smile because it happened.” “The best and most beautiful things in the world cannot be seen or even touched, they must be felt with the heart.” “If ever there is a tomorrow when we’re not together, there is something you must always remember.
Chris was a beloved family friend. He was always good for a kind word and a big smile. Truly a good soul with a loving personality. We will be enormously missed.
Simply put, we considered Chris a part of our family. He loved the food, especially the tacos. He was such a great person, a great friend to my nephew and like a son to my sister and brother in law. He would do anything to help others when needed. My sympathies to his daughter, whom he loved very much.
My friend you are truly gonna be missed by so many. You were always so kind to my parents Joe & Jan Payne. You were definitely like a son to my mom for sure. R.I.P. you beautiful soul. My deepest condolences goes out to his family and his daughter Bradyn.
Chris definitely felt like family to ours, we loved seeing him in his big gray Dodge PU, pulling up to share in our backyard bbqs. He, Alex and Rigg were the true “3 Amigos” with many fun shenanigans going on and laughter all day. We will miss his sunny smile and laughter so much. He always seemed to be having a good time, even when he has problems of his own, which he didn’t talk about. We loved him and hope he is enjoying his cabin in the sky.
Love Alex, Valerie, Eric and Rachel Manriquez
Chris, I simply cannot believe that i will never have one of your big hugs or hear that great laugh and smile again. You have always been my other son (THE GOOD ONE) as i always told you, and Dak co-signed it…LOL. We have enjoyed having you in our family and in our hearts.
Bradyn, Your Dad always loved you and looked forward to the day when you were together. It was a wonderful day when he called and said, I’m meeting Bradyn and her husband for lunch today. I do not believe he could have been more happy if he had won the lottery. I only wish that you, his daughter and us, all the other people who loved him had more time with him, life is short. Simply he was a good man. Rest easy now, your work is done.
