  1. In the church basement, kindergarten snacks. A little fat kid needed a friend. You were there.
Birthday parties, Lincoln and Washington elementary, little League baseball teammates-little life lessons learned. You were there.
Middle school and high; band, choir, and sports were our mainstay – classes, not as much fun. Day in, day out, you were there.
A trusted compatriot on the faux battlefield called football – always rallying the tired left line. Always hoping a pass would come your way. Blocking was usually the call. I needed you. You were there.
An Air Guitar band was needed for senior year pep rally –a front man was required. Doing your best Rolling Stones strut you were definitely there.
Why shouldn’t we run a 10k apiece in a race from the Kansas line? I watched you anchor our team, not to victory, but to an achievement by friends. Standing at the finish line in Tonkawa, you were there finishing the race.
I found the one for me and I once again needed you to stand with me during a wedding. All I had to do was call. Rented tux with sunglasses at the ready, sending me and my bride off from those same steps we attended church. You were there.
Life diverged and I left my friend. I hear you can no longer come if I call. I know full well you made the same profession and trusting acceptance I made in that little church so long ago. You are no longer here. You are finally THERE.
I will miss you. OU will miss its biggest fan. The class of ’82 will miss a most excellent friend. I bid you peace until my time here is up and I will once again need that friend. I’ll see you there.

  2. So sorry to read about this, his parents were friends of mine, he looked so much like his dad. I pray that God will give you peace and strength to deal with this sad time!.

Our sweet nephew Jeff has been in our prayers for sometime. He is at peace and happy with Chucky and Marilyn. My prayers are for his wife, Amy and his brothers, as well as, very good friends that are comforting each other with all of the good memories. Lord, walk with us and assure us our wonderful love for one another as a family in this difficult time.

I had the honor of having Jeff as my crew chief/supervior in Kansas and Oklahoma City while working together at Chesapeake Energy. His office door was always open, and he cared about the well-being of those who worked under him. I remember having long conversations about life and family in his office and how he fought hard, in a losing battle, to save the Land Title Group when the new management took over. The last time we visited is when he hosted a party for all of us who got our walking papers (and there was quite a lot of us there). His humor and personality always stood out, and I remember the heart felt hugs he gave out when we all finally left our separate ways. Jeff was a great mentor, manager, and a great friend. I know that one of these days we will meet again, and he will probably have another couple of Shiner kegs on ice for the next party.

    Love you, Jeff.
