1946-2018
Charles Lamb was born into eternity on Tuesday, December 11, 2018 at the age of 72. Born in Perry, Oklahoma to Virginia Lamb (Malzahn) and Clyde Lamb, he moved to Edmond in 1958. Charles graduated from Edmond High School in 1965, Wentworth Military Academy in 1967 and later that year, joined the Oklahoma National Guard. He married the love of his life, Cheri, in 1973. During their 45-year love story, they watched their children, Kelley and Erik, grow and raise families of their own. Nothing made him more proud than to be a husband, father and Papa.
Charles spent his life in service of others, helping the community be the best it could be. With over 40 years of public service, he spent the last 18 years serving on the Edmond City Council as the Ward 3 Councilman, and then as the Mayor of Edmond for the last 6 years. Charles’ legacy is being carried on by his wife Cheri, his daughter Kelley and her husband Robert Austin, his son Erik and his wife Candi as well as his five grandchildren; Taylor and Alexandra Austin and Ava, Reese and Grayson Lamb.
There was no heart bigger, no light brighter than Charles. He will be remembered by everyone for whom he made this world a better place.
Services will be held at 1:30 p.m., Monday, December 17, 2018 at the New Covenant United Methodist Church in Edmond, OK. If you are considering sending flowers, the family requests that you do not send lilies.

Cheri, so stunned and saddened to hear of Charles’ untimely passing. He was always a role model, partner and friend through thick and thin. You, Eric and Kelley are in our prayers.
So very sorry to hear the sad news that Charles had passed. Many prayers for the entire family.
I loved being involved in projects with Charles, and just chatting over a cup of coffee from time to time. He was an inspiration and a model for all of us in serving community.
To Cheri and Family
Charles was a true Servant Leader and a beautiful example to all who knew him. Edmond was his passion and he made such a positive difference for the community. It was such a pleasure to work with him through the Edmond Chamber in the late 80’s and 90’s and to continue with his friendship all the years after that.
A most gracious and wonderful man. He cared so much about the Edmond community. He is the reason I got involved in serving the City of Edmond through membership on various City Committees. RIP Charles!
Our thoughts and prayers are with you Cheri and your entire family. May God’s love surround and give you peace. Blessings, Kim and Jann Osborn

Cheri,
My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family.
I was inducted into Oklahoma Municipal Employee Hall of Fame the same night as Charles.
Charles was a dedicated servant to Municipal Government and done so much for the City of Edmond as well as the State of Oklahoma. His sudden passing leaves a huge void.

Cheri & Family –
Charles was the model for what we want and need in every elected official. He focused on what was best for our community (Edmond) and all the communities he served through OMPA (42). It was never about him. His understated actions as he listened thoughtfully, spoke sparingly and worked to gain consensus are the hallmarks of a great leader.
All who knew him will miss him. He was a friend, a mentor and a committed voice for Oklahoma’s public power communities. His lasting legacy is one of challenging others to aspire to his level of leadership and community commitment.
Each of you is in my thoughts and prayers.
Cheri, Kelley, & Erick,
The world is a lesser place with the passing of my friend Charles. My life is more fulfilled because we crossed paths on our life journeys. Edmond is by far a better city and role model for other cities because of Charles’ unselfish gift of his time, energy, and wisdom to move it from a sleepy suburban community to the bright star of Oklahoma that it has become.
My thoughts are with you during this difficult time in your lives. Thank you for sharing Charles with the world.
He seemed like a great man from what my friend, Ava Lamb, told me. He is now watching over his lovely family and the place he worked his hardest to keep safe. I believe that if we try hard enough we can be good people like he was, starting with being kind. I am truly sorry for your loss, even if I never met him personally.
thanks emma
