Casey Eugene Carlton

1932-2024

Casey Eugene Carlton was born in Shawnee, Oklahoma, on July 29, 1932, to Eugene and Mollie Carlton.  He was preceded in death by his parents and his brother Gerald.  He is survived by his wife Donna and numerous relatives.

Casey grew up in Chandler, where he graduated from high school.  He attended Oklahoma City University on a music scholarship, majoring in piano performance.  He was awarded a Bachelor of Music degree in 1954.  Upon graduation, he opened a music studio in Hollis, where he taught private piano lessons.

He earned a Master of Teaching from Central State College in 1964.  In 1973 he was awarded a Professional Certificate in Educational Administration by the University of Oklahoma.  He continued his education at Washington University in St. Louis with a Bachelor of Science degree in data processing in 1984.

Casey was teaching vocal music in the Edmond Public Schools when he met Donna VanScoder in the Young Professionals Class at Mayfair Church of Christ.  They were married on May 22, 1976, and started their life together in St. Louis, Missouri, where they both worked for Southwestern Bell.

In 1984 they moved back to Oklahoma City.  Casey retired from Southwestern Bell in 1994.

Casey was an avid photographer, especially of flowers and landscapes.  He also enjoyed gardening. 

Casey was a member of the Edmond Church of Christ and a veteran of the United States Army.  He served in Germany during the Korean War.  He passed away in Edmond on March 24, 2024.   

Service will be held at 10:00 a.m., Thursday, March 28, 2024 at Edmond Church of Christ.

    Donna, I just read this about Casey. I’m so very sorry. I loved the years we sang together in ECC. He was a great help to me in reading the music. You and your family have my deepest sympathies. Mark
