Carol Jeanette CoeCoe, Carol

1953-2017

Carol Jeanette Casey Coe went home to Jesus Tuesday afternoon, January 31. 2017 after a long illness. She had celebrated her birthday the previous Sunday. She was preceded in death by her parents, Howard and Leola Casey and her husband Richard Coe. Carol resided at Jones Nursing Home.

Carol was born January 26, 1953 at the original Edmond Hospital on Broadway. She attended Central State Campus School, Clyde Howell Elementary and Edmond Memorial High School. She earned many academic awards.

Carol graduated Magna Cum Laude from Southwestern State University in Weatherford, OK earning her Doctor of Pharmacy (D. Ph.) in 1976. After a brief career, Carol lived to celebrate God’s creation through music, art and friendship. She also enjoyed scripture study and Christian music.

Carol was a creative soul, applying this trait to her beading, drawing, poetry and prose. Her eyes would light up with delight when we entered her room, seeing her “sissie” and wondering what surprises awaited her during these get togethers. Carol would often give visitors some of her creations; a coloring card, a drawing, a song or a poem.

Carol is survived by her beloved sister, Carla Casey, her cousins Marilyn, Marusa, Joanie Hildebrand, Donna Symes and their families; friends Mary Etta and Barbara Baay and friends at Jones Nursing Home. Carol’s legacy is her spirit of joy and beauty she saw in all of God’s creation.

Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Saturday, February 4, 2017 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel with burial to follow at Gracelawn Cemetery.

  1. I will remember Carol as a genuinely good-willed and kind-hearted person. The hardships of life can be cruel; and decent people crushed under its wheels. I believe that enduring such burdens is redemptive. May Carol be at peace, and her family and friends be comforted.
