Carl Royce Gibson of Edmond, OK
1941 – 2023
Dear Friends,
I was born in a farmhouse in the Bridge Creek community located northwest of Blanchard, Oklahoma on December 30, 1941, to Cecil and Alta Gibson. I grew up in the Bridge Creek community until my junior year of high school. At that time, my family moved to Chickasha, Oklahoma where I graduated in 1959.
In the Fall of 1959, I began my college education at Central State College, now the University of Central Oklahoma, where I graduated in 1963 with a degree in accounting. I became a Certified Public Accountant in 1971. I worked at Doric Corporation as an internal auditor for two years before joining Reserve National Insurance Company in the accounting department and later became the Treasurer of the company. After 14 years at Reserve National, I left to be co-founder of a new holding company, Enterprise Investments, Inc. which later purchased Old Surety Life Insurance Company. I was with Enterprise Investments for 24 years and in 2002 I left to form another holding company which purchased Great Cornerstone Life and Health Insurance where I remained active until 2013. I was an active member for many years in the Insurance Accounting and Statistical Association (IASA) and in the Fellowship of Life Insurance Management (FLMI).
Through the years I have been active in various sports activities including little league coaching and many trips to watch my children and grandchildren play in their respective sports along with serving as president and on the board of the Edmond All Sports Association. My sports passion has always been golf where I had three holes in one. I was a long-time member of Coffee Creek Golf Club since its founding.
I went to be with my Lord and Savior on July 31, 2023, at the age of 81. I am preceded in death by my wife of 59 years, Virginia Louise Gibson, my parents Cecil and Alta Gibson, and my sister Carmaleta Jackson.
I am survived by my son Brent and his wife Kristin Gibson of Edmond; my daughter Stephanie and her husband Randy Pryor of Oklahoma City; granddaughter Chelsie Goforth of Pryor, Oklahoma; two grandsons, Shane and his wife Brittany Gibson of Edmond, and Chase and his wife Sloan Gibson of Edmond; granddaughter Delanie Dennis of Bedford, Texas; eight great grandchildren, Raiden Goforth, Mackenzie Grenier, and Ryder Bates of Pryor, Oklahoma, Sawyer Gibson, Graham Gibson, and Collins Gibson of Edmond, Oklahoma, and Henley Gibson and Lucy Gibson of Edmond, Oklahoma.
