It is with great sadness that I learned of the passing of General Bullock. I had the fortune to meet him several times during my service with the Oklahoma Army National Guard. The first was when I was attending Officer Candidate School with OKARNG. I and several of my classmates where cleaning a classroom in a rather boisterous manner one night. In walked a dignified gentleman in a bathrobe. It was clear to us we had awoken him from his sleep and we prepared to be dressed down.

Instead we had one of the most delightful conversation for quite sometime. He shared with us some of the lessons he had learned through his military career and during this time set a sterling example of how an officer conducts himself. Then he bade us goodnight and we returned to our duties but at a much quieter level. He never introduced himself but we knew he was someone of importance.

The next day we saw him again, in uniform, as we were introduced to Brigadier General Louis Bullock. General Bullock’s demeanor and response that night was one of the examples I used during the rest of my career of how an Army officer should treat subordinates. He had every right to berated us and instead he chose to set the example of cool, level-headed professionalism that stays with me to this day forth years later.

My deepest condolences to you for your loss of this very good man.

    Carl Owen, Class 22 OKARNG

  3. I am so sorry for your loss, please accept my sincere condolences. May the God of all comfort sustain you as you await the promises found at John 5:28,29 and Rev. 21:4 where God promises to do away with all the things that cause us suffering and pain including death here on the earth forever. (Psalm 37:29) It is my sincere hope that these thoughts comfort your family at this time.
