Brent David Hoig

Brent David HoigHoig, Brent

1960-2018

Brent David Hoig was born in Houston, TX on July 18th, 1960 and passed away on Saturday, September 22nd, 2018. Brent’s family moved to Edmond, Oklahoma in 1964 where he spent many hours fishing, exploring, working, and making friendships that would last throughout his life. He attended Edmond schools and was especially at home singing in the high school choir. He credited his mom for instilling in him a love for music and singing; he enjoyed playing the guitar as well as harmonizing with others. He especially loved the time he spent singing with New Creation youth singing group, a traveling group of 72 youth who sang, danced, and performed in churches both in Oklahoma and across the country. Brent graduated from Edmond Memorial High School, then went on to pursue a Bachelors in Finance from the University of Central Oklahoma, where he was a member of Kappa Sigma fraternity. Brent had many professional endeavors, including Smart Home technology which he eventually sold and went on to have a career as a fiber optic engineer. Brent was passionate about the outdoors, choosing to spend much of his free time outside, whether it was working in his garden, fishing for dinner, or cruising around the lake on his boat. Brent credited his dad with helping him develop an appreciation for hard work, whether that hard work was on projects around the house, out in the yard, or helping others complete their projects. Brent had a huge heart for people and always sought to help those who he felt needed someone in their corner. Anyone who knew Brent well also knew he had a special nickname for them! He loved playing with words and could twist them into some of the funniest “pet” names imaginable for people and things he loved! Brent is survived by his daughter, Megan Downum and husband Chris, of Wagoner; his son, Keever of Oklahoma City; his daughter, Abigail of Yukon; and his son, Cullin of Wagoner; his former wife Tricia Cullinan of Wagoner; and two grandchildren, Cade and Carly. Brent was preceded in death by his father, Stanley and mother, Patricia. A Memorial Service will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, September 29, 2018, at St. Mary’s Episcopal Church in Edmond, OK.

Brent was one of my dearest childhood friends. I helped him out of some troubles and then he helped me. I can’t believe he passed so soon, I was there the day he passed. I was living with him and he called my name. That’s all. God Bless you Brent Hoig I will see you again sometime. Maybe we can fish in heaven
