Billie Jeanne Price

1928-2023

Billie Jeanne Price, 94, of Edmond, Oklahoma passed away Tuesday, August 8, 2023. Billie was born to Edwin and Carrie Propps in Verden, Oklahoma. She lived in western Oklahoma and attended Southwestern Oklahoma State University in Weatherford until she met and married the love of her life J.L. Price. They married in Cordell in 1947 and were happily married for 66 years.

Billie supported J.L. by moving their family through seven states in the southeastern part of the United States to advance his career with T.G.&Y. Stores Company. They finally settled in Edmond, OK in 1979.

She always felt so fortunate that her children and their families followed from Florida to Oklahoma to live near them. As their families grew, she was able to be involved in her grandchildren and eventually great-grandchildren’s lives.

Billie was an avid crafter and “collector.” She was a seasoned world traveler, and truly enjoyed camping with the OK Good Sam’s group for many years. She was active in church and in her children’s school functions. She was a long-standing member of Memorial Road Church of Christ. Cooking was one of her many passions. She welcomed every opportunity to host people in her home. She graciously accommodated many large events. Billie had the door’s always open spirit that made everyone feel welcome.

Billie’s generosity shined throughout her life. She donated to local and national charities, but her biggest beneficiaries were her children and grandchildren. Billie’s selfless acts of kindness benefited anyone who knew her.

Billie appreciated everything that everyone did for her. Her family would like to thank Lyndale Senior Living for providing excellent care for her last few months. Her famous saying was “thank you kindly.’ She was loved by everyone and those who met her felt her love. She was a doting mother and grandmother, deeply admired and a major influence in numerous lives. She was known to all as Grandmommy.

She is survived by her two children JoAnne Laing of Edmond, OK: Jerry and Debby Price of Edmond, OK. Her four grandchildren Stephanie and Seth Parker of Cedarburg, WI; Tricia and Adam Orriss of London, England; Jeffrey and Courtney Price of Edmond, OK; Jennifer and Jimmy Moseley of Edmond, OK. Her six great-grandchildren Sydney Parker, Stuart Parker, Misty Moseley, Chyanne Moseley, Cobie Price and Hugo Orriss.

She is preceded in death by her husband J.L. Price; both parents; Ramona Sue Propps, sister and Joe Propps, brother.

Visitation will be held from 2-5 p.m., Sunday, August 13th at Matthews Funeral Home. Services will be held at 10:00 a.m., Monday, August 14, 2023 at Memorial Road Church of Christ with interment to follow at Memorial Park Cemetery Oklahoma City, OK.

  3. There isn’t enough room to express how Billie affect me, and I’m sure so many others. She was truly a wonderful lady. I am thankful for the teasing memories of playing a Bunko with her…her continued kindness each and every time I saw her. She was and continues to be very near and dear to my heart.

I met the Prices when I worked with JoAnne. They were a kind and caring couple. They went out of their way to express their love. An example of their caring was when they and JoAnne attended our daughter’s wedding in Indiana-the only guests from Oklahoma besides family.
Billie was always a gracious lady. Her loving and vivacious personality not only influenced her children their children and their children, extended family and friends. She will be greatly missed.
I believe on August 8th in heaven our LORD Jesus Christ surely said, “Welcome home my good and faithful servant”.

Billie was the sweetest, kindest lady you could ever hope to meet. Her family is a testament to the loving lady she was. Billie will be missed so very much by her family and many friends. I love you, JoAnn, Stephanie, Tricia and families.
