Beverly Ann Carothers
1942-2021
On August 16th, 2021 Beverly Carothers passed away at the age of 79 at her home in Edmond, OK after a short illness.
Beverly was born and raised in Drumright, OK. She later moved to Edmond where she spent most of the rest of her life. She often commented on how the small town of Edmond that she moved to had turned into a bustling big town over the years.
Beverly was a caring person with a heart of gold. She loved to meet and talk with people and had a gift for making others feel welcome and at ease. With a big bright smile and sparkling eyes, she had a zest for life that made an impression on those who met her. She loved music of all types, especially Country and Western as well as the crooners that she had grown up with such as Perry Como and Dean Martin. Though not a musician, she dabbled at playing the piano. As soon as music began to play, you could count on Beverly to get up and start dancing and belting out harmonies.
She was known among friends and family for her beautiful handwriting. She later studied calligraphy and would sometimes create handwritten passages for others. She had a passion for crafts work which included embroidery, patchwork quilts, and dressing for dolls. Her biggest love was crocheting which she learned as a child and continued throughout her life. She created intricate patterns for afghans and baby blankets. Over the years she gave many of these away as gifts to friends and family, although some were sold as well. In fact, she briefly had a business called “Beverly’s Creations” for selling her crafts.
In her later years, Beverly loved to take daily walks through the garden at home and around the neighborhood. The smiling lady with the long silver hair became a fixture in the area as she would stop and chat with whomever she met.
Services will be held at 2:00 p.m. September 8, 2021 at Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond, OK.
Beverly is preceded in death by both parents, her brother Jim, and her sister Bonnie.
She is survived by her 3 children – Sharon Jilek, Daniel Reinhold, and Debby Reinhold, as well as 4 grandchildren, and 8 great grandchildren.
