Betty Ruth Acton

Betty Ruth Acton

1929-2024

Betty passed on September 6, 2024.  She was heaven bound. Not as a result of her good works, but only because of God’s grace produced by her faith in Jesus Christ.

She was born in Kingfisher Oklahoma on March 21, 1929 with God giving her 95 years.

Betty married Merle Helt, from Kingfisher, in 1949 and had three children (Mike, Terry and Jan) in seven years. She was an accomplished seamstress and made many of her children’s clothes. She also made all the costumes, for several years, for the local ballet and tap dance recitals, was active in the local Methodist church and enjoyed singing in the choir. Many summer weekends were spent swimming and skiing at the lake in Dover Oklahoma.

In 1968 the family moved to Ponca City, Oklahoma where she sold cosmetics, as well as private and commercial insurance.  She took flying lessons, studied and became a commercial single engine pilot with an instrument rating.

In 1999 she moved to Grove Oklahoma then, to Edmond Oklahoma in 2010.

In work and recreation, she always had a smile and enjoyed visiting with people and making new friends. She loved God’s creation and anything that would take her outdoors including gardening, hiking and traveling.

Betty is survived by children Mike Helt, Terry Helt and wife Susan, Jan Bolding and husband Roy, five grandchildren: Kelli Neilson, Chrissy Brown, Corey Bolding, Kourtney Helt and Zach Helt, seven great grandchildren: Kristin Hiers, Matthew Neilson, Noah Brown, Sarah Brown, Paige Bolding, Grayson Bolding and Lauren Lawson, three great great grandchildren: Eli Franco, Kinsley Hiers and Landon Hiers.

Betty’s service will be September 21 at 2:00pm in the chapel of Matthew’s Funeral Home located on 601 South Kelly in Edmond Oklahoma.

What an accomplished fine lady and Christian witness. Thank you for this example of a life well-lived. We know she has entered into the joy of her Lord.

  2. My Mother will be missed. Always in my heart. More than a decade we have spent together, sometimes every day, working through the struggles of dementia. She left this world with such a sweet spirit. Always smiling, when I know at times it wasn’t easy. Forever loved, my sweet Mother. Fly high with Jesus.

Your Mother had to have been a very special partner for your Dad, Merle, with both loving flying. A wonderful Mother to have raised you, Jan! They are united at last flying over you and making sure those grands and great-grands get the attention they deserve. 🙏❤️🙏❤️🙏
