Betty Jane Philhower Bennett

Betty Jane Philhower Bennett

1925 – 2021

Betty was born in Milford, Ohio, Aug 25, 1925. She married her first husband Robert (Bob) in 1951 and they had 2 children, Mary Ann and Robert. The family moved to Oklahoma City in 1963 to start their own business, ServiceMaster Carpet Cleaning. In 1970 they opened the first Dunkin’ Donuts in Oklahoma City. Together they operated both businesses until Bob’s retirement. They enjoyed their retirement years playing golf and traveling to Florida and all across the Southwest.  After Bob’s death in 1985 Betty moved to Edmond and married Jim Bennett in 1998. They enjoyed several years together splitting their time between Betty’s Edmond home and Jim’s home at Lake Ft. Cobb. After Jim’s death Betty moved to Silver Elm Estates where she made several close friends and enjoyed the exercise group, chat sessions and especially playing bingo. In the first few months of 2021 Betty suffered several health crises and passed away April 13th, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her brothers, Harold Taylor and wife Fran, Harry Taylor and wives Marie and Paula, Charles Taylor and Bob Taylor; as well as her great-grandson Kyler White.

She is survived by her sister Shirley Sill and husband Dale, sisters-in-law Edna Taylor and Pat Taylor, and several nieces and nephews and their spouses and children. She leaves behind her beloved children, daughter Mary Ann and husband Tom Kite and son Robert Philhower and wife Kathy. Also mourning her loss are grandchildren Heather and Megan Kite and Brandon and Evan Philhower; as well as great-grandchildren Ayden Philhower and Madi and Logan Sturgell. They were all inspired by her and will miss her deeply. Betty’s greatest regret was losing her sight to macular degeneration. The family would be honored if you feel led to donate to the National Eye Institute for vision research. The following information is from their website:
