Barbara Ann Brown Deal was born in Coleman County, TX, to Aubrey M. and Eva Lou Brown December 21, 1934. She went to be with her Lord October 4, 2015. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brothers, James Curtis Brown and Jerry Paul Brown. Barbara graduated from high school in Jennings, LA, and completed a bachelor’s degree at Abilene Christian College in 1956. While in college, she met and married Lloyd A. Deal, October 22, 1954. They enjoyed over 60 years of wedded life.
In 1956, they moved to Goldendale, WA, to work with the Church of Christ. She served with her husband in ministry with the Churches of Christ for the rest of her life. While in Washington, they were blessed with 2 children, Larry A. Deal and Cherilyn Ann Deal (McAllister). In 1961, the family moved to Wellington, KS, to work with the local church.
In 1964 Barbara and Lloyd were invited by the College church in Searcy, AR, to join a stateside mission work in Iowa. They lived in Des Moines from 1964 till 1988. While in Iowa they were blessed with 2 sons, Ronald L. Deal and Roger B. Deal.
With the move in 1988 to Edmond, OK, came an emphasis on mission work in East Africa. Over the years, Barbara made 15 mission trips to Kenya and Uganda. Barbara was active in teaching ladies classes, her Emptynesters’ Bible class, and the Missions committee at the Memorial Road Church of Christ.
She enjoyed traveling and sports of all kinds. She treasured being with her 14 grandchildren and 10 great-grandchildren whenever she could.
Visitation will be at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 S Kelly, Edmond, on Friday, October 9 from 6 to 8 PM. Services will be held at the Memorial Road Church of Christ, 2221 E Memorial Rd, Edmond, on Saturday, October 10 at 10 AM.
In lieu of flowers, please consider gifts to the Connor’s Song ministry in conjunction with Touch A Life Foundation (touchalifekids.org) which sponsors art center projects for trafficked children around the world and in so doing honors Barbara’s grandson, Connor Deal, who preceded her in death.

I am so sorry for you loss. I know that Barbara had been sick for quite awhile and her quality of life was not good . Even that , doesn’t make it easier when you love someone so much.
My prayers are that you can find strength and comfort in God’s loving arms and His Word.

Roger and family,
Our sincere condolences on the loss of your mother. She was obviously a very Christian woman and we are sure that she is in a better place now.
