1936-2024

Audrey Opal Ericksen Olson was born March 8th, 1936, in Albert Lea, Minnesota to Ebba and Nels Ericksen. Her siblings were Virgil, Marian, Esther, Thyra Ann, and Robert. Audrey was baptized at Trinity Lutheran Church in Albert Lea. She graduated from Albert Lea High School and Dana College in Blair, Nebraska. In 1959 she married Marvyn Olson and followed him through his 20-year military career living in Nevada, the Philippine Islands, Indiana, North Dakota, California, Nebraska, Germany, and Oklahoma.

When Marvyn retired from the Air Force the couple remained in Oklahoma and Audrey worked for General Motors for 14 years.

Audrey adored her family and had a passion for golf. She won numerous golf awards culminating in the 1995 Oklahoma Senior Women’s State Championship. Her other interests included cooking, reading, painting, hiking, kayaking, visiting museums, going to plays and traveling. Her favorite trips were with the grandchildren when each turned 12. Audrey and Marvyn took Kailey, Zachary, and Molly to visit Michael and Elin, and to tour Washington D.C. and New York City.

She also found time to volunteer with Mobile Meals, Hope Center, and Breakfast on Boulevard. Regular church attendance and bible study were high on her priority list.

    Aunt Audie,
You were so dearly loved and will be greatly missed. I loved your beautiful smile and laugh – but most of all, you were the best hugger ever!
Uncle Marv, Michael, Terre and family – Aunt Audie will be watching over each of you and cheering you on every day. She was so proud of you all.
And she was a great example of love for friends and family to us all.
Our deepest sympathy, love and prayers.
