Anne Branan Ward

Anne Branan Ward

November 11, 1945 – November 4, 2021

Anne Branan Ward passed away in her home on November 4, 2021 in Edmond, Oklahoma. Born in  Oklahoma City, she attended Harding High School and always remained proud of the school. She then started her college experience at Drury University and finished her studies at Oklahoma State University. It was also at OSU that she met her husband, Jerry Ward, who was and is her only love.

Anne was known for her exceptional memory and discernment. She was a very compassionate woman, but few knew the extent of her generos ity. Frequently done anonymously, Anne assisted so many from buying prom dresses, helping mothers in difficult times, to supporting many activities at local schools. She proudly hosted a foreign exchange student from South Korea with whom she has always maintained a friendship.

She was an avid bridge player and a member of several local Bridge clubs. In previous years Anne traveled extensively and had wonderful stories to  tell about her travels, including crossing the Berlin Wall into East Germany before it was open.

Anne was a caring and unwavering friend. She was well known for acknowledging holidays and special events with a card and a personal note to so many. Her family was the core of her being, and she loved them all with her entire heart.

Anne is preceded in death by her parents, Herbert Branan and Elizabeth Trumbo Branan. She is survived by her deeply loving husband of 52 years, Jerry Ward, and her treasured children, Ross and Lorah Ward; as well as many close friends.

Services will be held at 2:00 pm, Saturday, November 13th at Matthews Funeral Home, 601 South Kelly, Edmond, Oklahoma.
