1924 – 2016

The service Celebrating the life of Mrs. Alma Louise Hunter, 91, of Edmond formally of Enid will be held at 2:00 p.m., Saturday, October 8, 2016 in the Matthews Funeral Home Chapel in Edmond.

Alma was born October 11, 1924 in Tontitown, Arkansas to Albino and Catherine Maestri Roso and passed away Wednesday, October 5, 2016 at her home in Edmond.  She attended St. Ann’s Academy and St. Edwards Hospital, Ft. Smith, Arkansas obtaining her RN. In 1958, Alma married Howard Ross Hunter at St. James’s Catholic Church, Oklahoma City on April 1.  They were married 55 years and their love was an example for many.  Alma worked in several places before taking employment at the VA Hospital in Oklahoma City, retiring after 15 years.  Howard and Alma traveled the world during their retirement years. Alma was an active member of the St. Gregory Catholic Church.

Alma is survived by her children, Sherry Hutchison & husband James of Edmond, OK, Allen Hunter & wife Andrea of Fairway, KS, Patti Baldridge & husband Mike of Sand Springs, OK; Grandchildren and spouses, Chris & Allison Hutchison, Paige Hutchison, Caroline Hunter, Mandy & Ronny Hilligoss, Jill Baldridge.  One great grandchild, Hunter Ridge Hilligoss. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials donations in Alma’s honor to: Our Daily Bread of Enid with Brown-Cummings Funeral Home serving as custodian of the funds.

    Looking at the picture here, so beautiful, your mother. I have heard you speak about her on numerous times and through you, I gathered that God had indeed created a wonderful masterpiece. My condolences to you and family. Prayers for peace, strength and comfort.
