Allene Randolph
1928-2021
Allene Randolph, 92, of Edmond, Oklahoma went to her heavenly home, Saturday, May 22, 2021, while surrounded by her family.
Allene was born to Hollis and Elsie Farrell July 14, 1928 in Wewoka, Oklahoma. They later moved to Butler, Limestone Gap, Hoffman and eventually Oklahoma City where she graduated from Central High School in 1946. She was a member of the National Junior Honor Society, loved playing basketball and enjoyed roller skating in her free time. While in Oklahoma City, she met her neighbor and love of her life, Howard “Buster” Randolph. They later married in December 27, 1946 and eventually moved to north Edmond where they raised their children and grandchildren on a small acreage where they could experience and appreciate the outdoors. Allene and Buster were married for over 55 years until his passing in 2002.
After high school, she worked for Southwestern Bell, followed by 15 years for TG&Y Corporate offices working as a Bookkeeper for 35 stores. She stayed home with her children and grandchildren for many years before returning to work and eventually retiring from Cooley Construction.
In addition to being a dedicated and loving mother and grandmother, Allene was a talented seamstress who loved using her gift to sew for her family, friends and eventually a local bridal salon. There she spent several years designing and altering gorgeous wedding gowns and prom dresses. She loved being outdoors, and spent much of her time tending to their acre-size fruit and vegetable garden as well as flowerbeds. She was a bird watcher and enjoyed researching the latest feathered friend at her feeders and outside her windows. A member of the Home Demonstration Club, she would attend meetings all over Oklahoma and regularly demonstrated upholstery, sewing and canning techniques. Other hobbies included painting, cake decorating, singing, and playing piano.
Throughout her entire life, she held an unwavering faith in God, which she shared with those who surrounded her. She was one of the few remaining founding members of her home church, Waterloo Road Church of Christ (formerly Midway) where she was very active in teaching bible classes, attending ladies’ bibles studies, encouraging others and hosting many church fellowships.
Allene was preceded in death by her mother and father, Hollis and Elsie Farrell; brother, James Farrell and wife, Earlene; sisters, Nora Blackwell and husband, Hoy; Jean Hood and husband, John; mother-and-father-in-law, Roy and Mildred Randolph; husband, Buster Randolph; son, Tony Randolph; as well as other family and friends.
