Jewel R. Story, 91 years old, of Edmond, Oklahoma, Passed from this life into Heaven on Friday, December 16, 2016, at her home.

Jewel was the only child of Paul and Eleanor Gordon Rainey, born June 20, 1925 at Hornbeak, Tennessee. In 1944 she graduated Giles County High School, in Pulaski, Tennessee and after finishing Cosmetology School in Nashville she was a self-employed hair stylist for more than 40 years. Jewel was married to the love of her life, Cordell Story, on April 9, 1948.

If Jewel had a hobby it was moving the furniture in her home. She moved it all, nothing was impossible, and she moved much of it frequently. Her husband, Cordell, once said that before you run in the dark and jump into bed, you always turn the light on to be sure the bed was where it was that morning! Jewel loved to watch Tennessee football. She was a member of the First Baptist Church in Pulaski for more than 40 years, and a member of First Baptist, Edmond, since 1995. She will be lovingly missed by all her family and close friends.

Jewel is preceded in death by her parents and her late husband, Cordell, in 1991. She is succeeded by one daughter, Pat Story Woods and husband, Gene, of Edmond, Oklahoma, one grandson, Brett Wellden and wife Shawn of Guthrie, Oklahoma, one step-grandson, Andy Woods and wife Kim of Pauls Valley, Oklahoma, and one step-granddaughter, Laura and Husband Frankie Roller of Midwest City, Oklahoma; three great-grandchildren, Chaisey Wellden of Bethany, Oklahoma, Garret and Carmym Wellden both of Guthrie, Oklahoma, and two step-great-grandchildren, Nathan and Maegan Woods both of Lawton, Oklahoma.

Visitation will be Monday, December 19, from 3:00 to 6:00 p.m. at Matthews Funeral Home in Edmond, Oklahoma. Visitation on Thursday, December 22 will be at 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. at Carr and Irwin Funeral Home, Tennessee, with graveside services under the direction of Carr and Irwin at 2:00 p.m. in Giles Memory Gardens.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations are suggested to the First Baptist Church, 407 South First Street, Pulaski, TN 38478
